Barr. Georgina Ekeoma Ehuriah (nee Alaukwu) was born to Late Chief Anosike Alaukwu and  Mrs. Mary Ihedinma Anosike Alaukwu at Amamba, Uzuakoli, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State on 12 August, 1962.  She attended St. John’s Primary School, Nsukka from 1970 to 1974, Queen of the Rosary Secondary School, Nsukka from 1974 to 1979 and proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 1979 to 1983, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, Second Class Honours, Upper Division.  She later obtained a Masters Degree (Distinction) in Public Administration from the University of Lagos (1997), a Diploma in French from the Village Du Benin, Togo (1990) and a Bachelor at Law, 2nd Class Honours, Upper Division from the University of Lagos (2004).

She started her career in the Federal Civil Service on the 2nd of October, 1984 as an Administrative Officer VIII in the Ministry of Defence, and between 1984 and 2001 served in the Joint Services Department and Budget Divisions of the Ministry.  Barrister Georgina Ehuriah received extensive work exposure in the Ministry of Defence, before being deployed briefly to the then Federal Office of Statistics in 2002, but left on special assignment to  the  Justice Opene Commission of Enquiry into the Inter Communal Crisis in Benue, Nassarawa, Plateau and Taraba States.  In 2003, she was posted to the Federal Ministry of Information & National Orientation and in 2004, she obtained a 9 months study leave to attend the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, graduating in 2005 with 2nd Class Honours, Upper Division.  On her return, she was deployed on special assignment as the  Coordinator of the Avian Influenza Crisis Management Centre, established by former President Obasanjo at the State House Abuja to rapidly respond to the outbreak of Avian Influenza disease in the country.  While on the assignment, she facilitated the drafting and approval of Nigeria’s first Pandemic Influenza Response Plan, which provided the framework for the subsequent structured responses to Nigeria’s disease and epidemic outbreaks.

In February, 2009, she was posted to the Cabinet Secretariat, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, where she distinguished herself in the arduous task of writing, editing and consistently producing flawless Council documents under very tight deadlines.  In appreciation of the sterling performance of Barr. Georgina Ehuriah, she was given National Honour for Excellence in Public Service on 14 November, 2011 at a colourful State ceremony, where she was conferred with Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).

In recognition of her exemplary service to Uzuakoli people, her inspiration of the younger generations as a role model as well as her achievements in public service, His Royal Majesty, Eze K. O. Ikonte, Ozuo II of Uzuakoli Kingdom conferred on her the prestigious chieftaincy title of Odu Agu Ozu 1 of Uzuakoli Kingdom on September 30, 2012.

Barrister Georgina Ehuriah has worked in The Ecological Fund Office from October 2011 to November 2012 and the Federal Ministry of Education from November 2012 to June 2015 in the capacity of Technical Assistant to the then Permanent Secretary, Dr. MacJohn Nwaobiala. While in Education, she was appointed a member of the Governing Board of the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Warri.

She was serving as a Director in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, The Presidency, Abuja when she took part in a highly competitive examination for over 300 Federal Directors in July 2017. She emerged the best candidate from Abia State and was appointed and sworn in as a Federal Permanent Secretary on the 16th of August, 2017.  She has since broken many records – first woman from Abia State to reach the pinnacle of the Federal Civil Service, first woman ever to be appointed Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office since its creation in 1960.

She belongs to the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Institute of Management and Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, among other Non-Governmental Organisations.  In addition to the National Award and Chieftaincy title, Barr. Georgina Ekeoma Ehuriah has been conferred with the Diamond Award by Uzuakoli Development Association, Ada Di Oha Nma title by UDA Women and Award of Excellence by Rotary Club, Maitama, Abuja Chapter. She is an active member of the Family Worship Centre Church in Abuja and the Aglow Women Fellowship.

She has travelled widely to many countries of the world. She is happily married and has two daughters. She enjoys reading, walking, swimming, music and community service.
