Policy Implementation and Monitoring of Government Decisions

  • To monitor the implementation of all Federal Executive Council (FEC) decisions by MDAs
  • To establish a comprehensive data and information bank on all Federal Executive Council decisions dating back to the first meeting of the Council in 1999;
  • Prepares and administers a comprehensive questionnaire on all Ministries, Departments and Agencies for the purpose of identifying the status of implementation of FEC Decisions;
  • Establish the basis for a comprehensive analysis of issues and problems relating to Policy Implementation and achievement of higher levels of appreciation of policy decisions;
  • Liaise very closely with all Ministries and relate directly where necessary, with Departments and Agencies of government for the purpose of collecting and collating information and data for physical verification and other monitoring activities;
  • Prepare quarterly reports through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to Mr. President for Council’s consideration;
  • Submit Implementation assessment reports and alarms direct to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies where necessary, for the purpose of achieving a higher degree of implementation;
  • Liaise closely with the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, the National Economic Intelligence Committee and Cabinet Secretariat; and
  • Encourages all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to set up Policy Implementation and Monitoring Committee composed of Departmental Heads, to be chaired by a Director (or equivalent) in charge of Planning, Research and Statistics and whose office shall be liaising with the Department of Policy Implementation, Monitoring of Government Decisions (PIMGD).
